Dynamic and challenging Dr. George B. Brooks, Jr. is a visionary, thinker, doer, environmental, economic, transformational and political leader. He is the Founder, President & CEO of NxT Horizon an AgTech (Agriculture Technology) consulting firm focusing on sustainable solutions to real world problems and is an expert on the urban aquaculture (aquaponics) of tilapia (fish), plants and giant freshwater prawns. He is a frequent writer and contributor to numerous magazines including Aquaculture Magazine and Arizona Green Living. President of the Board of Directors of the Phoenix Green Chamber of Commerce he also serves as Vice Chair of the team that wrote the successful new General (Business) Plan (planPHX: http://bit.ly/2tDI7Pp) for Phoenix Arizona, America's 5th largest city. He is Chair of the South Mountain Village Planning Committee part of the city of Phoenix Planning Commission. He is also a past member of the Board of Directors for the Central Arizona Project, the organization that supplies 40% of the water used annually in Phoenix and Tucson.

A powerful public speaker he is an award winning writer and editor with a number of scientific and popular publications. As a graduate student in the 1980’s, Dr. Brooks was part of the first class of Ebony Magazine’s 50 Under 30 series and has been quoted in Black Enterprise magazine for his knowledge of the new green economy. 

He holds a Ph.D in Wildlife and Fisheries from the School of Renewable Natural Resources, College of Agriculture at the University of Arizona, Tucson and a Masters Degree in Marine focused Biology from San Diego State University. His Bachelors degree is from Arizona State University in Zoology. He is married to Angela Rena Brooks and is the father to four powerful young women, Andrea, Amanda, Haley and Hasina.
