FISH FOCUSED AQUAPONICS

FISH FOCUSED: THE NxT HORIZON OF AQUAPONICS

We have renamed one of our pages on Facebook from MAINSTREAM AQUAPONICS TO FISH FOCUSED AQUAPONICS.

Fish are aquaponics largest untaped resource. Last year I wrote an article for Aquaculture Magazine called “Fish Centric Aquaponics: The Right tool for the Right Job.” I will link to it here: http://bit.ly/2s6Wom0

The thesis was simple. We are loosing money and opportunity by ignoring the potential of the fish we grow. Allow me to explain.

Aquaponics is a method of aquaculture (the farming and husbandry of aquatic animals and plants). There are many aquaponics groups on line dedicated primarily to how to better grow the plants while all too often leaving the fish and other aquatic animals relegated to the task of fertilizer factories instead of profit centers. This group is going to go in a different direction.

While not ignoring the critical processes needed to maximize high quality and low cost plant production, this group will focus on giving that same care to the fish and other aquatic animals that can be produced using this unique method of agri-food technology called aquaponics.

So please start bringing your questions on:

Aquatic Animal Culture (Fish, Prawns, Crayfish etc)
Diseases
Water Quality
Aquatic Animal Species
Economics
Food safety
Nutrition
Plant need vs. Animal need interactions, synergies and conflicts and more.

Most of all, enjoy the ride. Its going to be good.

A few ground rules.

1. AQUAPONICS WITH A FOCUS ON FISH OR DIRECTLY POINTING TO AQUAPONICS ONLY ON THIS PAGE PLEASE. I hate having to delete stuff.

2. If you are new to aquaponics, the following is the link to the FAO Aquaponics Manual. It is a well written free 200 + page text and instructional book on aquaponics using IBC totes and a few other methods. It is not perfect but good enough that I used it as a text for the Aquaponics classes that I teach. Here is the link: http://bit.ly/1GQvO2N

3. Some personal thoughts on FISH FOCUSED AQUAPONICS and AgTech/AgriFood Tech.

4. This list is not only about helping you to do better aquaponics but also providing information so you can do better business.

5. NO PROMOTIONS ON THE PAGE PLEASE

I do support educational activities however such as announcements for aquaponics classes or requests for support for developing new educational resources for aquaponics.
